Happy first birthday, CLTtoday. CLTtoday’s first daily newsletter sent was on March 18, 2024, and we’re still bringing the biggest + best news stories, and events to your inbox every morning.

We’re celebrating our first birthday by reflecting on the people we’ve met, the experiences we’ve had, and the stories we’ve told as the Queen City continues to grow and flourish.

First, the numbers:

  • CLTtoday has sent 180 daily newsletters, and there’s plenty more where that came from.
  • Those newsletters have contained 360+ articles covering everything from local events and restaurant openings to community activation, historical research, and a whole load of city guides.
  • We’ve posted 900+ times on Instagram, amassing more than 15,000 followers in the process.

A favorite memory from the past year was covering Charlotte FC’s first home playoff match.

But what are our personal favorite stories so far?
City Editor Maria is our resident Carolina Ascent fanatic, and has loved covering the team’s journey through its inaugural season. She also loved covering this bookstore’s journey to a storefront + writing about the return of Charlotte’s Sustainability Summit.

Fun fact: She served as moderator for one of the panel discussions.

As for City Editor Jack, he met Emmy-winning screenwriter Erik Jendresen who shared the experience writing the acclaimed HBO World War II series, “Band of Brothers.” He also wrote about the ongoing relief efforts for Western North Carolina and actor Paul Walker’s humanitarian organization, “Reach Out Worldwide.”

And of course we have some Instagram faves:

As always, thank you for your continued readership and support. Without our readers, we wouldn’t be able to share our love for the Charlotte area. We appreciate you.
