An exhibition where “transformation, in any form, feels possible” — that’s what’s on display at the McColl Center in Uptown. Local artist Meredith Connelly’s curated “Sovereign: Honoring Bodily Autonomy” welcomes guests through April 12.

Fun fact: Connelly is the artist behind the Fairy Ring in South End, among other works around Charlotte.

“From my perspective, art is a form of activism, and creativity reinforces freedom,” Connelly told CLTtoday.

Executing this display was no major feat. Connelly chose works from 50+ artists from a pool of more than 130 local and international candidates for the exhibition.

“Larger-scale proposals and more complex pieces are often minimally accepted in group shows due to logistical challenges, but given the nature of this exhibition, I intentionally embraced those complexities,” explained Connelly.

Admission to check out “Sovereign” is free but a $10 donation is suggested.
