Meet the Charlotte Knights’ new bat dog

The Knights’ new four-legged teammate has a tail-wagging story.

“Dog” was found abandoned in a park before being taken in by a local K9 training program.

His name may lack originality, but he’s got a grand slam personality. The Charlotte Knights’ 2024 bat dog is aptly named “Dog.”

Dog’s path to the Knights has been a journey. He was found abandoned in a park before being taken to Obedient K9 Academy — a K9 training program based in Charlotte’s South End.

Now, his potential is taking him to home plate. He’s currently in training with the Charlotte 49ers baseball team to prepare for six upcoming Bark in the Park games with the Knights, where he’ll be retrieving bats — and plenty of head scratches.

Give him a round of a paws at the first Bark in the Park on Thursday, April 4, and don’t forget that ticket buyers are invited to bring their pets to the ballpark for the occasion.
