Pack those bags for your next staycation. The Moxy Hotel is preparing to open this summer in Uptown, offering a unique chance for guests to become adventure-seekers and art lovers all in one stay.

Nitty-gritty
Construction on the Millennial-focused hotel at the corner of Brevard and Fourth streets began in early 2023. Once open, it will feature a rooftop lounge, 200+ rooms, and ground-floor retail. Plus, it will be within walking distance to the soon-to-be revamped Spectrum Center and Queen City Quarter.
Moxy guests will find numerous murals designed by local artists + a rooftop lounge, city views, and cozy suites.

Today is National Burger Day and here’s how you can take a bite of the day. Expect delays on Slanting Bridge Road in Lake Norman. The bridge will undergo inspection starting June 2 + will be reduced to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays. The inspection is expected to last three weeks. (The Charlotte Observer)

The Queen City will not be hosting the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) 2027-2029 basketball tournaments. The CRVA cited scheduling conflicts as a key factor in the rejection. The tournament was held in Charlotte for 15 years before its departure in 2020. (WCNC)
One step closer to the Calder Cup. The Charlotte Checkers are facing the Laval Rocket in the Eastern Conference Finals this week. The best-of-seven series starts tonight in Laval, before the team comes home to Bojangles Coliseum for Games 3, 4, and 5 (if necessary). Tickets are on sale starting at $32.
